The Books Team

Our tireless volunteers who have worked on many of our 21 Book Fairs

Gary Lambrides

Project Manager
Gary studied pharmacy at UQ, and also has an MBA from Bond University. Following a career in pharmacy, which included founding a number of businesses, Gary joined the Books Team in 2015.

Anne Mullins

Rare Books Co-Convenor
Anne is co-convenor for the Rare Books Auction, and also acts as the Executive Committee Representative for the UQ Alumni Book Fair team. Anne holds a number of degrees from UQ, and worked as a teacher at Ipswich Girls Grammar School. Following in the footsteps of former colleagues, Anne first sorted and priced Environment and Science books under the watchful eye of Joan Cribb (a former convenor of the UQ Alumni Book Fair). Over the last ten years, Anne has worked with Jan Thompson, and now also with Deb West, researching the many Rare Books which are donated to us. As Anne notes, “rare books have become my joy and passion.”

MARGARET BLASZCZYK

Art, Architecture, Design and Photography
Margaret first volunteered at the Book Fair in 2015, and is now a key member of the Books Team, with a special interest in art, photography, architecture and design books. Margaret is a qualified Speech Therapist and Audiologist, but her degree-level qualifications also include Art History, and Cross-Disciplinary Art & Design. Following a career that included working as Tutor, Acting Lecturer, and Visiting Consultant Audiologist, Margaret enjoys time with the many art and photography books donated for sale at the UQ Alumni Book Fair.

Peter Jell

Peter Jell is a UQ Blue in Rowing from 1966 and has been an active participant in that sport for more than fifty years. He has coached schoolboys in Rowing for over thirty years and has been a volunteer Boat Race official for more than twenty years. He has been a successful competitor having taken gold medals at World Masters Games since 1994, including five gold medals at the recent WMG Rowing Regatta at Lake Karapiro, New Zealand (April, 2017). He is an active volunteer in connection with the Alumni Friends’ Book Fair, having recently taken over responsibility for the logistics for the the Books Team, no mean feat when you consider that we had over 150,000 books for sale at the 2017 event.
